"Hiking the Na Pali Coast" Island of Kauai (day one)

Wilderness Adventure Documentary... this is part one of two that has been shot and edited featuring the beauty of Hawaii's Na Pali Coast on the Island of Kauai. We started the hike close to dark enroute to Hanakapiai Beach. We decided to travel without any camping gear- no tent, no sleeping bags, no ground pad, very little food and no water except for what we found along the way. I wanted to see the famed Kalalau Valley and Beach before leaving Hawaii, and I also wanted to hone my skills of basic survival. So, we went for it. We brought just a few essentials like my guitar and a headlamp along with fire-starter. Filmed and edited by David Lakota for the KauaiCenter.org and the AlaskaFilmSchool.com

Our brand new tent's first experience with the rain! It has a HH of 4000 and the material did hold up very well, however it leaked at window seams in a few places within the tent. I think the rrp is £600 for these tents, but Go Outdoors and other retailers all sell them for around £450. We bought ours at a 20% off weekend event, so was £360. The carpet at £95 seemed expensive so we opted for the HiGear Corado 8 which fits perfectly and is a nicer colour and pattern for just £40. I wasn't keen on getting a carpet, but on a wet weekend it really did make a difference to the comfort and the temperature within the tent underfoot, so I would highly recommend one. Despite the leaking windows, I would hightly recommend this tent, and can't wait to go camping again very soon. :-)
